Equipment

  • Pizza Stone or Steel
  • Rolling Pin
  • Oven (preferably 500°F+)
  • Mixing Bowl

Ingredients

Dough:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tsp yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt

Toppings:

  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • ½ cup marinara sauce (homemade preferred)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Parmesan cheese (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

  • Mix warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture and knead until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  • Cover and let the dough rest for 1 hour.

Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 500°F (or as high as it can go).
  • Place the pizza stone or steel in the oven while it heats up.

Assemble the Pizza:

  • Roll out the dough to your desired thickness.
  • Spread marinara sauce evenly over the dough.
  • Sprinkle mozzarella cheese, and add toppings like basil and olive oil.

Bake the Pizza:

  • Place the pizza on the preheated stone/steel and bake for 10-12 minutes, until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.

Finish & Serve:

  • Garnish with Parmesan cheese and additional basil leaves. Slice and serve hot!

Notes

  • For an authentic wood-fired effect, broil the pizza for the last 1-2 minutes to give the crust a nice char.
